There’s something incredibly special about weddings that feel truly personal – and this beautiful summer celebration in Suffolk was exactly that. From a relaxed morning getting ready at the bride’s family home, to a traditional church ceremony in Earl Soham, followed by a marquee reception on a private estate surrounded by long grass and open skies, every part of the day felt intentional, meaningful and full of joy.
This was one of those weddings where everything just flowed. Golden light, emotional moments, heartfelt speeches and the most magical golden hour portraits in a field.
The morning began at the bride’s parents’ home, which instantly set the tone for the day. Calm, familiar and full of excitement, it was such a lovely environment for bridal prep. The house was filled with laughter, hugs and that pre-wedding buzz. Getting ready at home always brings an extra layer of emotion, and this morning was no exception – a beautiful mix of nerves, happy tears and quiet moments before the day unfolded.
From there, it was on to the church in Earl Soham for the ceremony. There’s something timeless about a Suffolk village church, and this one couldn’t have been more perfect. As the bride arrived with her dad, guests gathered outside in the sunshine, and the atmosphere felt warm, welcoming and full of anticipation.
Inside, the ceremony was emotional and intimate, with genuine reactions, big smiles and a few happy tears. The aisle walk, the vows, the first kiss, all of those classic moments, captured in the most natural, documentary way.
After the ceremony, guests lined up outside the church for confetti, and it was glorious. One of those just right moments where everything comes together – big smiles, flying confetti and that newly married energy.
The celebrations then continued at a nearby private estate, where a stunning marquee had been set up amongst the gorgeous tall grass fields for the reception. The setting was seriously dreamy – open countryside, long grass, soft summer breeze and a beautiful stretch of green space for guests to mingle.
Drinks and canapés were served on the lawn, with guests chatting, laughing and soaking up the sunshine. The whole space felt relaxed and elegant, with that effortless countryside wedding feel that works so beautifully in Suffolk.
The marquee itself was styled so beautifully. Long tables, lots of greenery and a warm, welcoming atmosphere made it feel both elegant and completely unpretentious. The walk through the long grass into the marquee added such a lovely sense of arrival. Speeches were a real highlight. Emotional, funny and genuinely heartfelt, they had everyone laughing, wiping away tears and fully present in the moment. You could feel how loved this couple are, and how much thought had gone into every word.
As the evening light softened, we slipped away for golden hour portraits in the surrounding fields – and honestly, this was pure magic. Long grass, warm sun dipping low, and that quiet just-before-sunset calm. These are always my favourite moments of the day – no rush, no pressure, just the two of them soaking it all in.
From start to finish, this wedding felt relaxed, emotional and completely true to them. A church ceremony in Earl Soham, a marquee reception on a private estate in Suffolk, drinks on the lawn, heartfelt speeches and golden hour in a field – it really doesn’t get better than that.
If you’re planning a marquee wedding in Suffolk, dreaming of a church ceremony followed by countryside celebrations, or considering using private land for your wedding reception, this day is such a beautiful example of how effortlessly it can all come together.
